Hello, I’m Laura.
My passion for nutrition and holistic health stemmed from the four years my family and I lived in a remote town in East Arnhem Land. Being away from the mainstream allowed me time to reflect on and address the various aspects of my diet and lifestyle that may not have been conducive to being happy and well in the future. I began to recognise that what we put into (and onto) our bodies can have a significant impact on the way we feel and function, and that it’s not just about what we eat but also about how we live that determines optimal health and wellbeing. This time of research, reflection and reconnection was the little spark that ignited the flame that became a second degree (Bachelor of Health Science in Nutritional and Dietetic Medicine), a few grey hairs, and a whole new career.
We are constantly bombarded by confusing, conflicting, and often misleading messages about wellness on social media. Much of this information isn’t backed by scientific research and clinical evidence, nor does it take into consideration your individual needs. Nutritional medicine (see below) is NOT a one size fits all approach to health and wellbeing! As as a clinical nutritionist, I’ll aim to address the cause of your individual symptoms, help you listen to your body, and to determine what is best for you. My mission is to empower you with evidence-based nutritional knowledge and offer personalised support, to help you make small incremental changes and guide you on the right path to being happy and well.
So what does a nutritional consultation involve? Check it out here.
Nutritional medicine is a holistic approach to healthcare that emphasises the therapeutic and preventive benefits of whole foods and specific nutrients. It recognises the significant impact that what we eat, and how we live, has on overall health, disease prevention/management, and well-being. This approach involves assessing an individual's nutritional status, identifying potential deficiencies or imbalances, and designing personalised dietary plans or supplementation strategies to address these issues. Nutritional medicine seeks to optimise health by harnessing the power of food and nutrients, often in collaboration with lifestyle recommendations and referral to other health modalities, to achieve holistic and sustainable wellness outcomes.
What you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner is either feeding disease or fighting it!
